On 10/05/2025, a dramatic emergency unfolded on a flight from Las Vegas to Monterrey when the pilot suffered a cardiac arrest and fell unconscious. A brave female passenger took control of the twin-engine aircraft, which was diverted to Bakersfield's Meadows Field airport. With guidance from Kern County air traffic control, she successfully landed the plane, and medical teams were on standby to provide immediate attention. Unfortunately, the pilot was pronounced dead at the hospital. The passenger, whose name has not been released, was able to follow instructions from air traffic control, illustrating a scenario previously demonstrated by GNN and Mythbusters, where individuals with no flight experience can be talked through landing a plane safely.
